Archived from groups: alt.games.mame () I'm terribly sorry for asking this question as I feel that is something that I should have been able to find going through this newsgroup. I only found one that sorta asked about it. But the only replay he got was how to download it and run it through QuickPAR. This whole file formatting and creating additional folders- while ensuring I have the 'right' MAME version with the 'right' CHD/ROM is proving to. CHD files are compressed hard drive, CD or DVD images necessary for emulating some modern games using the MAME software. The term stands for Compressed Hunk of Data, and without these extra files, some recent arcade titles are not be playable in the emulator. My question is. What do you do with the actual CHD file? I havent downloaded anything for MAME since version 0.72. And back then it was just to download the ZIP file, place it in ROMS and play. But what's up with this CHD now? I found this page here: But it says something about a matching zip file too?? I downloaded a couple of CHD files from alt.binaries.emulators.mame. But it didnt come with any.zip file?
